Since Subway’s entering the Bulgarian market in 2008 up till now, the chain has marked a fast growth in the country and has been an object of keen interest among people who wish to start their own business through franchising. While in 2008 the company had only 87 inquiries from potential investors, in 2009 it received 313 and in 2010 – 371. A significant growth has also been marked in the turnover of the company which has increased with 32% in 2009 and in 2010 – with 54%.

During the new 2012 Subway will continue to work on its global strategy to establish itself as the chain with highest number of restaurants in the countries where it operates. The company’s plans for Bulgaria are to open a total of 40 restaurants by the end of 2013. Apart from the traditional places, the chain will also seek opportunities for less traditional locations for new restaurants like petrol stations, big stores, hospitals, airports. Also, it is recruiting new partners in new cities like Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Veliko Tarnovo, Blagoevgrad as well as in the summer and winter resorts.

Subway restaurants offer fresh and healthy food. The company plans to expand its menu by introducing more new healthy offerings for fast and tasty eating. The quality of Subway’s products is always a priority and the company focuses on working with proven suppliers, proper preparing and serving of the products and fast servicing of the customers. With the chain’s expansion the control over the restaurants will be of highest importance so it ensures the same high quality of food and service in all restaurants.

Today Subway Bulgaria manages 21 franchise restaurants in the country – 13 in Sofia, 4 in Varna, 2 in Bourgas and 2 in Sunny Beach. Along with achieving the company’s main business goals in Bulgaria, Ivan Todorov will also endeavor in developing Subway’s franchise in Romania, and he and his team will provide full support to their present and future partners.

In 2010, in Zagat’s survey on fast food restaurants, SUBWAY was placed on first place by the consumers in the categories “Most popular brand”, “Best service” and “Healthy choice”
