IHG opens first Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belgrade, Serbia
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced it has opened its first Crowne Plaza in Serbian capital Belgrade in the end of January 2014.
Delta Holding, the owner of the property since 2008, has signed a management agreement with IHG to revive the hotel into Crowne Plaza Belgrade. The hotel was initially opened in 1979 as InterContinental Belgrade, the company said in a press release.
Some 40 million euro have been invested in the hotel so it could open door again under the one of IHG’s brands.
Crown Plaza Belgrade has 416 rooms, full service business center, 12 meeting rooms, the largest hotel ballroom in the country, two restaurants, lobby bar, an exhibition hall and a fitness and spa center with a swimming pool. It is conveniently located in the business district of Belgrade.
“This new and modern hotel […] is extremely well equipped to welcome business and conference travelers to this city,” Zivorad Vasic, general manager of Crowne Plaza Belgrade, was quoted as saying in the press release.
IHG, based in the UK, operates nine hotel brands, including Holiday Inn, InterContinental Hotels and Crowne Plaza. It has over 4,600 locations in nearly 100 countries worldwide, and another 1,000 hotels in development.
