Tutor Doctor is planning on opening branches in Tunisia, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.

Ontario-based tutoring company Tutor Doctor said in November 2013 it opened its first unit in North Africa after signing a franchise deal at an exposition in Tunisia.

The company envisions opening more tutoring centers in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa, two of which will start operating within the next three months.

The deal is part of the IFA-sponsored Franchise Trade Mission to Sub-Saharan Africa which aims to present the business opportunities in these markets.

Tutor Doctor has awarded the franchise deal to the Hassine siblings, local entrepreneurs who have both held management position in leading companies.

"Tunisia is an untapped franchise market and now, with the help of the Middle East Investment Initiative, more qualified candidates will be able to pursue their dreams of becoming a business owner," Frank Milner, Tutor Doctor’s president, was quoted as saying in the press release.

Tutor Doctor is a home-based tutoring brand for students of all ages - from kindergarten through college.  It was founded in 2000 and started franchising just three years later. Since then it has grown to over 370 offices in markets all over the world, including in North America, Latin America, the UK, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and now in Africa.
