U.S. car rental company Enterprise Rent-A-Car said it is expanding in Europe further through franchise partnerships in Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

The company has entered into franchise agreements with General Lease in Belgium and Luxembourg and with Auto-Interleasing (AIL) in Switzerland, Enterprise Rent-A-Car said in a press release mid-December 2013.

General Lease and AIL will help Enterprise Rent-A-Car introduce the brand in key locations throughout the three European countries and develop “an uninterrupted network that will extend the Enterprise brand across the whole of EU”, the company said in a press release.

General Lease is a division of Belgian group Groep Boden and has 40 branches. Its car rental division has a fleet of some 2,000 vehicles.

AIL is a fleet management company based Switzerland and has branches in Muttenz, Dietikon and Nyon. It is a family-owned company with over 80 years in the automotive business.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car, part of St. Louis-based Enterprise Holdings, is a leading rental cars provider. It was founded in 1957 and since then has grown to over 8,100 offices in North America, the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, and now Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
