DP Poland said it opened in October 2013 the first Domino’s sub-franchise pizzeria in Poland’s capital city of Warsaw.
The franchise is owned by Jakub Stepien and is under the recently-introduced S2 store format designed to cut expenditures and to boost profitability, the company said.
The first franchisee has over seven years of experience in both pizzeria management and franchising, the company noted. He also was DP Poland’s first employee and has experience as a Domino’s operator.
DP Poland, through subsidiary DP Poland SA, has executive rights to develop and operate franchised units in Poland. It received 15-year exclusive master franchise rights with option for 10-year renewal. It also has the rights to sub-franchise.
Last year Domino’s agreed to reduce the required number of company-owned pizzerias required before the company sub-franchises from 20 to 12.
The first Domino’s pizzeria in Poland opened in February 2011 in Warsaw. DP Poland opened 13 stores in the first half of 2012 alone. It plans to open another 20 both corporate-owned and sub-franchised for the period 2013-2014. The company is opening its first store outside the capital in October 2013.
For the first half of 2013 DP Poland reported a gross profit of 616,782 British pounds compared to 132,532 British pounds for the same period the previous year.
