How did you get started as a franchise consultant?
Some of our clients were willing to develop their business through franchising; others were willing to join a franchise network. We at IVCH LAW FIRM advise our clients throughout the whole process which requires adjusted legal bases.
Who are your clients?
Our clients are mid seized companies that can be developed into a franchising network. Most of them are operating in growing sectors like food, beverages, new technologies, specialized know how, sports.
Ours clients are also individuals or investors willing to join growing markets through franchise.
We work with national and foreign companies from USA, Australia, Korea, India that appreciate full service in English on the French market.
What are the current trends on the franchising market in your country?
Because of France key position in Europe, brands are willing to establish their presence there without necessarily taking the risk to invest directly.
The economic situation has of course slowed down the development, but France is still considered an opportunity for franchising by many entrepreneurs.
How many companies in your country offer franchises?
There are about 2,000 brands across France.
Which are the best by sector, growth and demand?
Growing sectors are food, service, personal equipment, sport, and cosmetics.
What's the average startup investment in money and time for a franchise?
Start-up investments vary and depend on the sector, but the average investment is about 200,000 €.
What is the profile of the people who choose to buy a franchise?
People in their late forties, early fifties, who use their experience, network, equity and ideas on their own terms.
More and more women are joining the force.

What should franchisors know before coming to your country? Any specific requirements, legal restrictions.. etc?
As an EU member state, the legal requirements in France are imposed by national and EU regulations, which can be complex;
